Byron Institute for Independent Study
The Byron Institute for Independent Study is available for families with medical, social-emotional, or other concerns. Students receive daily live online instruction for part of the day and complete independent work when not learning directly with a teacher. Byron Institute for Independent Study will be open for enrollment for any students and families that are interested.

- Social Emotional Learning (SEL) including Choose Love Curriculum
- Expansive elective choice for middle school students

- Use of Acellus Platform – Digital Online Courseware Program

CURRENT BUSD STUDENT
- Parents/Legal Guardians will complete the BIIS Interest Survey
- Parents/Legal Guardians will complete the BIIS Application, the form can be found under important documents.
- Completed forms will be emailed to the office manager.
- The office manager will contact parent/guardian letting them know if there is space in the classroom or if there is a waitlist.
NEW/TRANSFER BUSD STUDENT
- Parents/Legal Guardians will complete the BIIS Interest Survey
- The office manager will contact parent/guardian letting them know if there is space in the classroom or if there is waitlist.
- Parents/Legal Guardians will complete the BUSD registration forms and return via email to the office manager or drop off at the District Office, the registration forms can be found under important documents.
- If you live outside the Byron Union School District a parent or legal guardian must apply for an Inter District Transfer request. To start this process, a parent or legal guardian must first obtain an Inter District Transfer request from their district of residence. Your request must be approved by your school district of residence to be considered. BUSD will not review or consider requests that are denied by their school district of residence.
